Full Description

Purpose.

This procedure describes the requirements of repair procedures and unique processes that could be used to paint Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) or epoxy reinforced components body color. Procedures include pit fill applications to improve surface smoothness and edge sealing to reduce paint defects on SMC components. The processes should be included in the GMW14797 - Painted Plastic Parts Performance Requirements testing plan as a tested interface within the production intent stack up.
